We start with synthetic benchmarks. 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra is a DirectX 12 benchmark for 4K gaming PCs. The RTX 2080 Ti scores 8,879 points while the RX 5700 XT scores 7,564 points. In other words, the RTX 2080 Ti is 18% faster than the RX 5700 XT.
Next up are some real-world benchmarks. For 1440p resolution, we tested five popular games: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Far Cry 5, and Battlefield V. All five games were tested at ultra settings with motion blur disabled. The RTX 2080 Ti averaged 143fps while the RX 5700 XT averaged 129fps. That’s a difference of 12%.

At 4K resolution, we tested three games: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Again, all three games were tested at ultra settings with motion blur disabled. The RTX 2080 Ti averaged 71fps while the RX 5700 XT
The most popular synthetic benchmark for graphics cards is 3DMark, and we’ve used the latest version, 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme, for this comparison. 3DMark measures relative graphics card performance by rendering sequences of highly detailed 3D graphics that emphasize different aspects of a card’s performance. Fire Strike Extreme is geared toward high-end gaming PCs, and it runs at 1440p resolution with settings designed to push today’s cards to their limits.
In our testing, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition turned in a score of 9790, while the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition scored 7274. That’s a difference of more than 25 percent in favor of NVIDIA’s new flagship GeForce card.

In our original benchmark article, we found that the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti was on average 26% faster than the Radeon RX Vega 64 across a selection of games tested at 1440p resolution. That’s still true here, but there are some important caveats to keep in mind.

Gears 5 is the latest release in the Gears of War franchise and one of the most anticipated games of 2019. The game is a third-person shooter that focuses on cover-based combat and features an extensive campaign mode as well as a robust multiplayer component.
For our benchmark analysis, we tested Gears 5 at Ultra settings with both the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and the Radeon RX 5700 XT. We used an Intel Core i7-8700K processor and 16GB of DDR4-2400 memory.
The results were very close, but the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti emerged as the winner, averaging 144fps compared to the Radeon RX 5700 XT’s 138fps. However, both cards were able to maintain a consistent 60fps at 1440p resolution with all settings maxed out.
In terms ofgraphics quality, there was little difference between the two cards. Both cards were able to render the game’s lush visuals with ease, though the RTX 2080 Ti did have a slight advantage in some areas. Both cards are more than capable of delivering a great Gears 5 experience.
After taking a deep dive into the performance of both GPUs, it is clear that there are some major differences between them. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti provides more power in certain areas such as ray tracing and rasterization, while the Radeon RX 6800 has an advantage when it comes to its memory bandwidth capabilities.
